#377 - Smoke on the Water (starter)

Generally speaking, when you think of an "Oldie but Goodie" an old tune comes to mind, usually one that gets your toes tapping or head swaying despite its age. Our POTW theme "Oldies but Goodies" is inspired by this very idea so this week we wanted to honor an older pony who represents a musical "Oldie But Goodie".
We are so pleased to spotlight Smoke on the Water this week who is over 5 years old and is named after the song originally sung by Deep Purple in 1972. His colors and leg fade are such a wonderful representation of this song. He's an "Oldie But Goodie" through and through!

This week we went looking for a pony with city flair- a pony dressed for life in one of the major cities around the world. Our eyes lit up when we saw Vegas Dreamin'. While she faced some tough competition, this gorgeous pony won our hearts over with her city style. From her glowy necklace and fancy mask to the glitzy sash with a diamond pattern Vegas Dreamin' looks ready for big city life!

"I chose to nominate Rusty Flames because he is a very special boy to me. He was created to be a mate but has become so much more than that. He represents the strength and courage that anyone can have if they believe in themselves. Rusty trains hard each day to accomplish his goals of gaining those lovely stars and plans to make it into the HOGC. Even though Rusty is a 'keep to himself kind of pony' I always felt he deserved to be noticed with his kind and caring personality. This week the POTW went searching for a horse mimic with a few additional guidelines: It must be an earth pony, and it must wear only items that a real horse might wear. There were many lovely examples, but we unanimously decided that Rose was far too lovely to ignore! This natural beauty is even all decked out in a saddle blanket and bridle, and has real horse markings!
