What do you think, PI? Buy the Belle-style dress for my Beauty and the Beast themed wedding, or go more traditional and get a white gown from somewhere like David's Bridal?
Me again. I need your advice.

![]() | So, I'm debating entirely if I want to go with a normal wedding dress, or if I want to shell out $700 and go with this: ![]() What do you think, PI? ![]() | i'd say pick what you think is best financially for the future >3> but that's just me. if you want a Disney fantasy wedding! pick the belle dress! but if you just want a nice wedding, i'd save a few dollars and pick David's Bridal. but, sometimes even their's are more then 700 bucks. edit: i voted for belle dress just because i think you would look FANTASTIC in it |

![]() | I think that dress is gorgeous! I believe that if you like the dress you should go try it on, and then if you love it, you should shell out the money. You'll be happier in the end |
04-17 06:11 4509
| If you have the funds to get the Belle one i'd go with that as it fits in with your theme and lets face it its the happiest day of your life as they say so why not have the best you can afford I am sure you'll look fabulous in it too Under New Ownership |

Therein lies the problem. The dress is a custom make only sold on Etsy. I unfortunately cannot try it on. |

![]() | If I do end up getting the Belle dress, I'm going to see if the creator can change the color and make it white with the gold shoulder piece, or just all around white, to make it more "mine". |
04-17 06:26 810
![]() | I voted belle. But you should go try on dresses of a simmilar colour. I am pale as can be and I look horrid in gold and yellow. All my friends are nice and living people coloured (evil people who can tan) and look awsome in golds. Also I hope you are a brunette You only get married once. (I hope) You have been posting about your beauty and the beast wedding and I think you should go for what makes you happiest. Plus unlike the rest of us, you could always wear your wedding dress again every haloween or fun costume party. And if you have daughters they will love to try it on too. |

![]() | Have you thought of going to a seamstress? My city has a ton of them and they will make anyhting you want quickly and beautifully. I think you live in a large city too so you should be able to do some reasurch and see if you can get one made just the way you want it. It can be cheeper too. (avoid telling them its for a wedding, wedding dresses cost more beacuse the person proving the service has to put up with a bride.) |

Never really thought of doing that, actually. I live near Walt Disney World, so I'm sure I can find a seamstress around here somewhere. My only problem would be if they can do a good job or if it'll be kinda half done. |

Most of them have websites with comments or you can see their work in store. Also the intranet is wonderfull for hunting down things with ratings. Mabey check tweets, facebook and other social rating sites in your area? I am in canada so I know some I like will not work for you, but every large city has the recomendation websites. |

![]() | You asked for our opinions, so here goes... I detest that dress. It looks like a 5 year old's cheap halloween costume. I think it's ugly, dumpy, and I wouldn't give someone $5 for it, let alone $700. And that color! Ugh. If you're determined to get a Beauty and the Beast type gown, I'd go with something much more beautiful and stylish than that thing you posted: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I typed in 'Beauty and the Beast' wedding gowns, and all kinds of them popped up. I think the dresses I posted are much more beautiful than that one you posted. I'd seriously rethink that purchase. There are many more beautiful dresses to be had, keeping with the B & B theme and style. Most people will tell you exactly what you want to hear, to avoid hurting your feelings. I'm not one of them, unfortunately. Sorry about that, but you did ask. I have no need to conform to the stereotypes that others have defined for me. http://ponyisland.org/index.php?src=forum&sub=replies&forum=26&topic=2957854--> My NEW ML Link! |

![]() | I just really don't like that gown :\ At all. But I'm really into wedding dresses. I'm only 16 and when I'm bored I'll search them, just because I think they're so beautiful. And 700$ is cheap for a wedding gown, very cheap. If you can't pay that, I would really look into renting your gown. My cousin did that and it is a whole lot cheaper, plus you can get something very elegant. She got a gown that would usually cost 7,000 for well... not 7,000 |

![]() | I have to agree with Wild, and much prefer the gowns she has posted. Then again, its all down to personal taste. Also, you won't know if that (or any) dress is The One until you try it on, which you said wasn't possible with that dress. I'd highly advise you to go and try some on 'Dear Darlin', Please excuse my writing, I can't stop my hands from shaking, cause I'm cold and alone tonight...' |

Agreed... Seeings as you can't try on the Belle dress, I must warn you that it will not look good on a normal human being. The cut of the top will minimize curves, adding weight to areas such as the waist. The bottom half of the dress starts just below the "waist" and unless you posses a very tiny 20-inch waist that is set very high up on your ribcage, then the dress will literally make you look heavier. To fix that, you could request that the dress-maker refit the entire top with a corset-style, but I'd highly doubt they would do that. The point of ball-gowns is to accentuate the midsection and in this gown, also the shoulders and neck. The bodice is simply poorly made. Now I'd like to call your attention to the little glimmers of light reflecting from the bottom expanse of the dress. What material is that? It's not: silk or even satin. It seems like some kind of cheap polyester cloth to me. It looks... fuzzy too. Fuzzy. Now that drapery aspect is most likely made from some kind of scratchy tool/mesh. That paired with the rather unnatural transition to the waist... the result is a triangle shaped silhouette. Overall I'm wondering if you'd like to actually dance at your own wedding. The extreme amount of heavy cloth and "fuzzy" material on that dress will most likely put a direct stop to any kind of dancing. What I'd suggest: Go your your local bridal store. Tell them your budget, try on a dress and make sure it fits you. There is a friend of mine, she is easily prettier than me in all ways. But she looks dreadful in my clothes which make me look amazing. Dress that look great online will not be the same on you, and even dresses that look terrible online would look fantastic on you. |

![]() | I like the Belle dress. It all depends on the wedding theme, though, in my oppinion. If you're going for a full-themed wedding, it has to be a Belle dress, and equal-looking as the original one. But then, the groom would have to be wearing a mask or at least a full beard. I've been to two of such themed parties - very classy! One was a general fantasy party where the bride dressed as a butterfly and the groom as a butterfly-catcher, but the guests could dress with any fantasy. Many girls went as butterflies too ha ha ha it was very funny to play with the groom. The other was themed as Star Wars and the groom went as storm trooper, while the bride did a Princess Leia hairdo. Not so funny. Everyone else was dressed normally and they looked kinda out of place. If it's not that strongly themed ... maybe a different dress would be better. |

Ahh... the Beast does turn into a human at the end lol >.> Just for people who aren't into the whole mask\beard idea. I believe his "suit" at the end is blue though, if you want to match it in his human form. But really, I don't think people remember the princes as much as the princesses |

![]() | I don't like that dress. That colour is just...I don't know how to explain it, but it's horrible. Maybe it's just me though, because that yellow doesn't go with my skin tone...on me at least (olive). I get a little bit bigger but then I'll admit I'm just the same as I was. Now don't you understand That I'm never changing who I am. |

![]() | ![]() This is an actual Halloween costume that I found online. What I honestly think is going on here is that whoever is selling that dress, or trying to for $700, bought one of these costumes...you can pick one up for about $50-65...tweaked it, jacked up the price, and is now trying to get someone to buy it at a hugely inflated price. I have no need to conform to the stereotypes that others have defined for me. http://ponyisland.org/index.php?src=forum&sub=replies&forum=26&topic=2957854--> My NEW ML Link! |

*edited out the dresses so this wouldn't be too long* While a bit harsh, you do have a rather good point. The 'Belle' dress does look childish, and now that I look a bit closer, the fabric is horrid. I would use it as a cosplay outfit, but not for something as huge as a wedding. Dale, you can probably find a much better dress. It can still be reminiscent of Belle's ballgown without being an exact copy of it. Good luck finding that perfect dress! |
