![]() | I have very acne prone skin, and a family friend was thinking of having me color fitted for Bare Minerals makeup. Does anyone here use it? Is it any good? I'm a little concerned because it's a powder, and I usually have to use mousse foundation and a powder to get my face to be presentable. Will it get the job done of covering my face? There's also the issue of it lasting through the day. My normal makeup starts to wear off after a few hours, and about halfway through the school day my face is red and splotchy. (It's normally like that when I'm not wearing makeup.) I have super oily skin, so I think that has something to do with it. Will this work on oily skin? Any and all input is appreciated. (: |

![]() | Bare Minerals is really good. It's very "micro" mineral, making it soft to the touch and it's made with all natural products, so it's good for the skin. I would suggest using a good primer (I favor the MAC brand primer) so that your face stays all day |

![]() | I've had acne for quite a while and I have used Bare Minerals Makeup and I did like it, because I am not one for a heavy duty liquid or mousse foundation. If you want a fuller coverage with just wet the makeup sponge slightly before applying the make-up. I have odd skin it tends to be oily then quite dry, but make-up won't stay on all day anyways so just bring it with you and apply it during the day EDIT: Plus I would suggest to stop using the liquid as soon as possible because it does block your pores more than powder and will cause you to break out. |

![]() | I've actually used Bare Minerals for almost 3 years now, I love it! I have oily skin as well and in the past have had problem breakouts. I used to use mousse like foundation and I think that it made me break out worse! Since i've been using bareminerals, my face is clearer and it doesnt give that cakey makeup look that I hate. I use the medium beige shade. It really makes my face have a healthy glow and i just feel better about myself lol. its worth it |

Is that easy to find in a store? I'll probably be at Macy's in a mall, would they carry it there? Also, about how much does that cost you? |

![]() | Macy's carries a lot, and if your going to the mall, MAC might have it's own store if not in the Macy's. MAC is a bit on the pricey side. so is Bare Minerals. but my mother had acne problems all the time with her make-up still she started using Bare Minerals. i used it a bit too on important occasions, and i barely new i had it on, it's very light and it is very soft to touch. |

![]() | A foundation would cost anywhere from 22-35$ (Well worth it I promise!) And they normally have their own store... I'm sure it in a mall http://www.bareescentuals.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-BareEscentuals-Site/default/Home-Show?brandId=BM |

![]() | I've been looking for foundations for years, but didn't wanna use powder type, or liquid type. I've used them before and didn't like it lol. Till recently, me and my family went on a little holiday, where my mum bought the Bare Minerals I tried it, and I was really really impressed with it So... I'd recommend it Not sure where you can get it from ... I'm from UK, so I can either buy it off online or a couple stores. Maybe you should google and find out where it is in your area! |

![]() | It depends on what you're looking for. It is comfortable and better for your skin. However, if you are looking for something to really conceal and hide belemishes, you're probably not going to be satisfied with it. It helps even your skin tone but is too light to hide much. |

![]() | I love it! I haven't worn make up in years, but if you want something light and quick for day time, it's perfect. And if you're prone to breakouts, use apricot scrub. I'm telling you, it'll clear your skin right up. http://www.bing.com/shopping/fresh-skin-apricot-scrub-invigorating-oil-free-all-natural/p/4D82AC75A53222C25002?q=st+ives+apricot+scrub+&lpp=2&lppc=16&lpq=st%2bives%2bapricot%2bscrub&FORM=EG I've been using this stuff since I was a teen. I don't have a single wrinkle, crows foot, nothing. This stuff works great on your arms, chest, back, etc. I wouldn't be without it. I have no need to conform to the stereotypes that others have defined for me. http://ponyisland.org/index.php?src=forum&sub=replies&forum=26&topic=2957854--> My NEW ML Link! |

Oh m'gosh, I love apricot scrub Quote spamandtoast:
Ah. I do need something that can conceal; that's the reason I wear makeup. Should I maybe keep some of my regular makeup, dab it on the problem areas, and use the bare minerals on the rest? Or is it not really worth investing in? |

![]() | I love Bare Minerals. FYI. It's the only makeup I use. And I stand by it 100%. |

![]() | Smad, one thing that my dermatologist recommended to me as a teen was getting out in the sun. If you have access to a tanning bed, once or twice a week for 15-20 minutes should do it. Talk to a doctor first though. And I would keep on with the apricot scrub, even though you think you'll become immune. lol That stuff gets all those dead skin cells that build up and cause breakouts to begin with. They have different kinds, as I'm sure you know, so instead of quitting it for awhile, just switch the kind you use. If you can, give your skin a break from all make up for a time, too. I have no need to conform to the stereotypes that others have defined for me. http://ponyisland.org/index.php?src=forum&sub=replies&forum=26&topic=2957854--> My NEW ML Link! |

![]() | Heh, not to go against the crowd but... When I was applying into a makeup school the woman who ran it went on a huge tyraid about how horrible it was. She said it actually clogs pores and makes acne worse. I myself have never used it but the woman who runs the school is a very reputable makeup artist. |

That could actually be true for very young girls who still have very oily skin. I didn't start using bare minerals till I was in my mid to late 20's, so it didn't bother me. I think the secret, reguardless of what make up is used, is to simply make sure you don't use a really heavy hand, and keep your skin clean. If you're home and not doing anything or going anywhere, give your skin a break from everything. I have no need to conform to the stereotypes that others have defined for me. http://ponyisland.org/index.php?src=forum&sub=replies&forum=26&topic=2957854--> My NEW ML Link! |

I live in Washington State, so the lack of sun could definitely be a contributing factor to my problem. It's rainy and overcast 9 months out of the year here. I think I'll give the apricot scrub another try. I've seen you talk about it other threads and you really do stand by it. It sounds like it's worked really well for you. I need to buy new face wash anyway. (: Also, I do wash my face a lot and apply medication after. I've noticed before that sometimes showering without washing my face does have nice results. Long story short, I agree with everything you've said lol -edit- Quote :
Hmm. I'm 16, so my skin is still in the crazy zone. It seems like other users younger than me have had alright experience with it, but the pore clogging concerns me a bit. |

![]() | According to my dermatologist years ago, if you don't get out in the sun at least some, it can have an effect on your skin. I would talk to your doctor and see if he thinks it's ok for you to get into a tanning bed once or twice a week. It could go a long way in helping you. Yeah, when people break out, they want to hurry up and get rid of the problem, like NOW, so they're always tempted to constantly do something. lol Really, it's best just to wash twice a day, and don't over do those medicines. They can irritate the hell out of your skin and make the problem much worse. I'm 45. Normally, you'll see women my age with those ( ) around their mouths, forehead lines, crows feet, etc...I swear, I don't have any of it. Not one single wrinkle, and I'm telling you I give all the credit to having exfoliated my skin every single day since I was a teen. ha ha I have no need to conform to the stereotypes that others have defined for me. http://ponyisland.org/index.php?src=forum&sub=replies&forum=26&topic=2957854--> My NEW ML Link! |

![]() | I use the Pur mineral line, and I love it. I buy them from the Ulta online store, but I would suggest going into a brick-and-mortar store at first to try the samples and match your skintone. I never had acne problems as a teen, but for some reason as I got older my skin rebel'd against liquid foundations and I broke out horribly, this stuff is like magic! I get great coverage, and even if I fall asleep in it (usually doens't happen, but sometimes you get tired, ya know?) I never break out from it. Edit, I'm 47, also not young. Pur covers well, it's even, and wears all day. I use the foundation and the powder. |

![]() | As someone who gets terrible acne, I would not recommend it. I was in a constant state of breaking out. When I switched, my face got so much better. My skin tends to switch from oily in the winter, to dry in the summer. In both conditions, it was equally troubling. I found that because it's so fine it would get into my pores and my usual scrub just wasn't cutting it. I ended up having to go to a dermatologist to get my pores cleaned out. It was not good. |
