Well, sir, with all due respect, gravity is a theory, too, but I don't see you jumping off any buildings.

Ah, yes, a Harry Potter nerd's dilemma. :XD Not being able to figure out which house I'm really in. Lovely, right?

(If you're not into Harry Potter, you probably won't be interested in this. ^^ )

Now, you see, every time I take a sorting quiz I end up in either Gryffindor, Slytherin, or Ravenclaw. No matter which house I get, the other two always follow behind. I have tied several times; the latest being Slytherin and Gryffindor. I have traits of all three of them, however, I also contradict them.

Examples-

Slytherin: I am ambitious and driven. I am good with words and though I don't do it frequently, I have cheated on things before.
However, I am not the best liar, generally blurt things out without thinking, and act rashly. I am stubbornly antisocial and not at all interested in networking.

Gryffindor:
I am stubborn and idealistic, and tend to be be bossy and control-freaky. I tend to do thugs without considering consequences.
My contradictions are also pretty big- I do not display stereotypical outgoing behavior; in fact, those who don't know me think I am shy. People who aren't my friends consider me either odd, smart, or bossy.

Ravenclaw:
Test wise, I have definite above average intelligence. I enjoy being artistic.
I have a few key differences that stand out, though. I generally dislike people who are very intelligent, and puzzles and riddles bore me. Though I am book smart, I'm not very good with people, and 'wise' is definitely not a word used to describe me. I also have a stubborn streak that can get in the way of using my head, to put it nicely.

As you can see, I'm a rather conflicted nerd. :XD So, I was digging through my computer today and found I had saved an old Sorting Quiz from god-knows-where, and thought- alright, whatever the results are, it's final.

Here is the quiz, with my results-

So I have nine for Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Slytherin. I suppose I shall be a conflicted Slytherdorclaw for life. :XD

Any other Harry Potter nerds facing similar problems? Or any other fans of another thing?

As a side note- of my two Pottermore accounts, one is a Slytherin, the other, a Gryffindor. I dread what my third one would be.

See, why did you take the Pottermore test many times? If you answered truthfully on the first test, you have been sorted into the house where you belong.
We all have aspects and qualities of all houses. What was your first Pottermore sorting? Slytherin?
Because in that way: Congrats, you are a Slytherin. :happy

You might be a hatstall. Really close to many houses. But you are what you were sorted, or what you really feel inside.
I've always considered myself a bit of a Slytherclaw before I was sorted, because I admired many of Slytherin's qualities. But I'm a Ravenclaw deep down, I know, and the sorting proved that.

Don't doubt the sorting hat, young wizard. The hat doesn't lie. <.<

I'd say your a Slytherin :p The traits you say for Gryffindor could also go well with Slytherin and I don't think the 'non-networking' is exactly bad for Slytherins :XD

Me? I"m a cross between Hufflepuff, Ravenclaws, and Gryffindor. Hufflepuff mostly because of my extreme Loyalty and willingness to actually do the work and not just be the leader. Ravenclaw...well, I'm in Gifted (above 135 IQ on top of a bunch of other qualities :p), and I actually love logic problems, though most of school bores me. Gryffinfor for various other qualities :p

My friend likes to insist she's a Slytherin. But, like she tends to do, its only in her head. She thinks she's one way but really, when it comes down to it, proves otherwise >.>

The Pottermore hat placed me in Ravenclaw, which surprised me greatly. But I was pleased with it :3

Actually, the first was Gryffindor. The second was because my sister had one but decide not to use it, so I said 'what the heck' and did it again just for laughs.

I'm not really good at being manipulative, though, so despite high aspirations I kind of fail in that aspect of Slytherin-ness. :XD

Really, it's up to you where you belong. Where would you "want" to be? If you got the letter to Hogwarts today and the sorting hat had been kidnapped, what house would you want to be in? What house would you get along with best?

Honestly, I like the Gryffindors best because they tend to be the most blunt. And despite not being the loudest person ever, I like 'glory', or general 'credit'. It seems like Ravenclaw and Slytherin don't really care about this very much.

Well, since you have many attributes for Gryffindor, you got sorted into Gryffindor on Pottermore first, and you would want to be in Gryffindor, I think it's safe to say that you are officially a Gryffindor. :happy

I know that I'm not "perfect" Ravenclaw, but I know I'd rather be in that house than any other.

Besides, as I said before, we all have all houses in us. They are not going to be tailored, because there are only four of them. It will be impossible to "fit perfectly" into any house. Like a Hufflepuff, I think hard work and fair play is very important. Like a Gryffindor, I admire bravery. Like a Ravenclaw, I greatly value wisdom and wit and a willingness to learn. Like a Slytherin, I yearn for cunningness and resourcefulness. :happy

Be a proud Gryffindor, but don't dismiss your other qualities.

And I do suppose you're right about the whole wanting thing- how else did Peter get into Gryffindor?

I can understand your worries though. Before I realised I was a Ravenclaw (first time I read the books) I was so conflicted. It was like a tiny identity crisis. <.<

And yep, I think so too. Although with Pettigrew, I think he changed throughout the years. I mean, I'm not saying that I think he was ever a perfect example of a Gryffindor, but maybe when he was 11, he wasn't so corrupt. After all, he was still friends with Lupin after he found out he was a werewolf. He was pretty brave, I suppose.
But yeah, I think that maybe he "convinced" the sorting hat a bit. Like Harry did. He befriended James before the sorting, right? Perhaps he just really wanted to be in Gryffindor.
And I think that he didn't really fit in any other house, either. Cunning and resourceful? Eh, no. Fair play and friendship? Maybe partly, since he had a strong and loyal friendship when he was younger. But then he turned into a horrible traitor, so nono. Wise and valuing knowledge? He seems as dumb as a whistle to me.
And the hat maybe makes mistakes, sometimes.
But seriously, he seemed like a cool guy until he was completely corrupted by Voldy. Tsktsk.

Or maybe JK Rowling simply couldn't have every Gryffindor be a gallant-knight-in-shining-armour type. Again, the houses are pretty "open".

Just... my thoughts. :tongue
Man, you're really pumping me to have a HP book marathon again. oWo

Yeah, maybe he was like a Neville gone-bad? Like, he started out externally cowardly, but with brave ideas. Not necessarily bold, but with a want to be?

That's what I did a couple of weeks ago. :> (Book marathon! :happy )
