Prolog
Link to Illustrations for The Ghost of The Baxter HouseOrnament was getting very excited, this weekend was Halloween and she had just picked up her new costume, this year she was going to be the bell of the ball! Literally, since her costume was this perfect princess dress complete with tiara.
As she looked around the cafeteria at school she saw her friends already sitting at their table,
she was late today, the queue for fresh apples had been long. She started making her way towards them.
"Hi guys" She said in her normal cheerful voice.
First to answer was Deco "Hi beautiful, where have you been?"
"Ahhrrgg there was a long queue for the granny-smith apples, it took like forever" She smiled at him.
"Ahh I see" He answered and winked at her like he always did. He liked her and she knew that, but they had been friends since foal-garden and she liked him too but she was afraid to lose him as a friend if they were to date.
"So did you get the dress yet?" Pearl asked. Ornament turned and looked at the black unicorn sitting next to her, Pearl was one of those really natural beautiful Ponies, she hardly had to do anything to look pretty and all the colts liked her.
"Yes I just got it this morning; I am going to be the bell of the ball this year!" She said with a big smile as she tossed her head and her mane fell in perfect place.
"Hihi, you already are the bell of the ball, everyone here envies you, you know that." Pearl giggled and took a bite from her red apple "Besides is there anyone you want to impress?"
"Nooo" Ornament looked at Pearl with a crinkled frown "You know I have no time for these young ponies, I want a real stallion!" She tried to say it with some sarcasm, the truth was she didn't like any of the other colts, she simply had not met the one, yet.
"Ohh no talking about boys today please!" Deco shook his head and made a face of boredom "So where are we going this weekend to celebrate Halloween? There are quite a few parties."
"Well you're not invited to my party that is for sure!" A high pitched voice said behind them.
Ornament turned half way around well knowing who the voice belonged to. Behind her stood a beautiful unicorn filly, named Matrix. The Pony had colored stripes in her mane and was very pretty. Sadly, she acted accordingly.
"Oh no? What a shame! Like we would have nowhere else to go! Dang guys we have to cancel Halloween!" Deco said in a sarcastic voice, then turned to eat and purposely ignoring her.
Matrix shoots him one glance and opened her mouth to say something when suddenly they heard a loud crashing noise coming from behind them. Now everyone turned to look.
"Woops Sorry, If you just...Woops I didn't mean.. Really just..Noo..Okay I have it!" A small white and black unicorn filly was stumbling around to get her books in order, as she was carrying quite a few, more than just her own, Ornament realized.
"Arrgg be careful with that, Trouble! I don't want to be paying for new ones!" Matrix uttered through her teeth, she then promptly turned without another glance at the trio she had just been bickering with.
"Ohh I do feel sorry for Trouble, why does she hang around with Matrix?! She is so mean to her." Pearl asked. "I don't really know Pearl, but I do feel sorry for her too. So where are we going?" Ornament determined to have a nice lunch with her friend and not feel too sorry for poor Trouble, who always trailed after Matrix like a lost puppy.
"I heard about this party at the old Baxter's place, maybe there?" Ornament raised her eyebrows at the name. "The old hunted house? Yes that is just perfect for Halloween! What do you think Deco?"
The two girls turned to look at Deco. Sounds like a plan, but you know it's hunted, right ladies? That means ghosts! Which means scary, scary..Scary.." He raised his hooves about his head and made a scary face! "Ohh don't be silly Deco, ghosts don't exist!"
Little did Ornament know she was in for a surprise....
