| Breed a Triple Visible Matchmaker descendant - but with a Twist!

 Matchmaker sat in his old-fashioned kitchen having breakfast with his wife Miss Matched and a large group of his children. He was in a particularly jovial mood, and the twinkle in his eye didn't go unnoticed by his wife. "What plot are you cooking up this time, Match? Is it a new contest?" she asked, knowing his moods only too well. Breaking into a grin Matchmaker winked at her. "You've guessed it! No matter how wonderfully colourful this family is, and I do love you all dearly, we are really very short of triple visibles in this household. But I am loathe to be involved in a large breeding project myself, I don't have the energy and work has kept me away from home for too long. So I've decided to give four of my sons - Sketch, Outline, Squiggle and Doodle - the task instead."
"What task is that, Daddy?" piped up little Still Life, her big green eyes looking at her father in anticipation.
Matchmaker smiled at his diminuitive daughter. "They'll be going to the big lights of the city to find out what the latest fashionable colours and patterns are, interview some starter Earthie mares, do some research to figure out their Sgenes, then bring home a few for the project. Meanwhile I can put my hooves up and relax. Delegation - wonderful thing."
Miss Matched gave a snort of derision. "I hope you know what you're letting yourself in for, dear. Wouldn't it be better if you sent Heartbreaker? He's got the highest intelligence in the family."
"Nonsense," Matchmaker said dismissively but not unkindly, although a nagging voice in the back of his mind told him his wife was probably right. "I'm sure the boys can cope admirably. It's just a few starters with Sgenes they need to find. I mean, how hard can it be?"

Two weeks later Matchmaker's sons stood before him with a bevvy of Earthie mares from the city bearing suitcases and other assorted luggage. Giggles, snorts and whinnies could be heard as the newcomers cast their eyes over the Matchmaker stables and family, chattering excitedly amongst themselves.
"Boys? How many mares did you bring home? I thought we agreed it would be just a few?" Matchmaker asked them with faint alarm at the prospect of housing all these ladies, although the Matchmaker stables were capacious.
Sketch spoke up a little sheepishly. "There are twenty-five mares here. We really couldn't whittle the number down any further."
Matchmaker raised his eyebrows at the number, but smiled good-humouredly. He'd been young once, himself. "Hmmm. All right, well, let me have the Sgene documentation then we can get started with planning."
"Uhhhh I think there's something you should know, Father," Doodle said tentatively. "We.. uhhh... had a slight mix up on the way home."
"How slight?" Matchmaker said sternly.
"Errrmmm... we don't know exactly which Sgenes these ladies carry other than what slots they have Sgenes in." Squiggle blurted out, shame-faced.
Matchmaker stared at each son in turn in disbelief. "I see. Well you've just made matters far more difficult for the contestants - but I expect they'll enjoy the challenge. Very well, let's get started. Must include a City Girl in their lineage (see Post #2 below) for which a 10K entry fee is payable. 4. Either male or female acceptable. 5. Must be triple visible (searchable) for either Leg/Hair/Body or Face/Hair/Body (acceptable Sgenes detailed in post #3 below). 6. Colour requirements: Should be pleasing to the eye! Muddy ponies won't attract the winning prize. 7. May carry other Sgenes, but should not have any other visible or 'invisible' Sgenes, that is, ones that are searchable. 8. Winning pony will come to live at the Matchmaker stables. My decision as to the winner is final. The Contest InstructionsPlease read very carefully - all questions welcome in this thread.  I'll add to FAQ if need be.How to Enter:1. Bid 10K on your City Girl of choice and also post your name in bold in this thread that you intend to enter the contest and which City Girl(s) you are bidding on. Anyone who doesn't follow this instruction will have their bid rejected. Be careful in your choice as you can't change your mind once I have accepted your bid. First come, first served though. 2. Devise a plan to breed a triple visible descendant of Matchmaker using starters you have genned yourself or bought. You should not use any DVSO, or other double visible/triple visible or triple carrier Earthie you may own that already exists in your stable. Please use single visible or double carrier starters only. Your plan must include your City Girl as one of the starters in the pedigree. The other details are up to you. 3. At some point during the contest, breed one of the offspring/descendants in your pedigree to one of the 4 Matchmaker studs provided (you can do this more than once). Again be careful which stud you choose as you can only breed with one of them. The Studs available are detailed in Post #4 below. 4. Your goal is to breed a stunning triple visible Matchmaker descendant with EITHER Face/Hair/Body searchable Sgenes OR Leg/Hair/Body searchable Sgenes and with your chosen City Girl also included in their pedigree. Making Your Final EntryYou've finally bred a triple visible, now what? Post his/her picture in the thread along with a link to his/her profile. You can enter up to 3 triple visible ponies.Closing Date As in previous contests with Matchmaker, the closing date isn't fixed at this point due to the length of time required to get a triple visible pony. The end point for this contest will be announced later on, I would expect the contest to run for several months. This is NOT a first past the post contest, enough time will be allowed for several triple visibles to be entered. You must use ONE of these studs to breed with a mare of your choice. Here are the studs (each of whom has a single visible Earthie mother). All carry Tips and either PColorize or Zigzag (inherited from Matchmaker):  #1: Sketch - Carries ZZ and Okapi (test breed proven by Punxz).  #2: Outline - Carries PColorize and Faded(testbreed by Eoko)  #3: Squiggle - Carries ZZ (testbreed by Origami_Dragon) and Freckles (test breed by ~Chaos).  #4: Doodle - Carries ZZ (testbreeds by Kokiri3) - and Freckles (testbreed by darkmoore). All available for breeding at 0 bid to pure, non-inbred Earthies only (even for testbreeding purposes.). Please choose ONE stud only and post in the thread your choice. I will only accept one bid per user (not account). Q. Can I breed my City Girl to a Matchmaker Stud?A. No. You should only breed one of her children/grandchildren. Q. Do I have to breed a City Girl's descendant to a Matchmaker Stud?A. No. What you must do is make sure you've included both the Stud and the City girl in your triple visible's pedigree. Q. Can I breed to more than one Matchmaker Stud during the contest?A. No. You must choose one and work with your outcomes from that. You should post which stud you've chosen in the contest thread so I can officially note which one you're using. No need to name your chosen Stud until they are all adults and you're ready to breed to one. At that point you should post your chosen Stud and that choice will be binding, you can't change your mind after that.Q. Can I buy double carrier or single visible starter Earthies for the contest?A. Yes, but they must be starters. As long as you include your City Girl in the breeding lines, that's fine. Q. How many breedings can I have with my chosen stud?A. Breedings are unlimited. Q. Can I breed more than one of my pedigree line to my chosen Matchmaker Stud?A. Yes, this should help you with colour breeding, but be careful not to introduce any in-breeding! That would disqualify your pony. Q. Can I buy a double visible Earthie to breed into my Matchmaker lines? A. Nope. You must breed any DVs you need from scratch. Q. If I have DVSO earthies around that I have bred, they are fair game to mix in, yes?A. No, sorry. This gives you an unfair advantage over others who don't have the same resources. You should not use any DVSO, or other double visible/triple visible or triple carrier Earthie you may own that already exists in your stable. Please use single visible or double carrier starters only for this project. Q. Can I test breed to the Matchmaker Stud to establish his Sgenes?A. Yes - Earthie mares only though, please. And you must stick to your chosen stud only. Q. Can I disclose in the Contest thread or via PM/IM information I have found out about which Sgenes a Stud carries?A. Yes! You may help each other in this way if you feel so inclined. Q. Can I share a QV tester stud with others to help them test out Sgenes carried?A. Yes, if it's for Sgene testing purposes only, then that is fine. We now have 2 free test studs for you to use if you want to test your City Girls out when they're adults:Many thanks to kokiri3 and the other one belongs to me. Both are impure and inbred and it is strongly suggested you release any test offspring unnamed.   Q. Do you know exactly which Sgenes each City Girl carries?A. Of course!  Q. Can I breed my City Girl to a free stud to discover her Sgenes? Can I name and keep her offspring?A. You can breed your City girl to any pony you like to discover her Sgenes, because she isn't part of Matchmaker's bloodline (and you bought her, she's yours!). You can name and keep those ponies if you really like them. However please don't use any of them in the contest bloodlines or else your final entry will be disqualified. But for Sgene testing only, that's fine. Q. Can I put my breeding project on my sub?A. Yes. Just let me know your sub's name so I can keep track of genuine entries. Also if you change your account's name. Q. What are you looking for in the contest winner?A. Triple visible (or searchable) Sgenes in either Hair/Body/Face or Leg/Hair/Body slots, can be colorized or not, and the end result should be an attractive mix of colours - no muddy ponies please! 08-08 09:06 Matchmaker 923 - USR | Post #9 Here is my own TV project using one of Matchmaker's triple carrier daughters, Face the Music (who carries ZZ, Tips and FColorize according to my test breeds), and a City Boy named Dunmovin who carries Paint and Star.   My eventual aim is a TV approximately like these test breeds from my other project starters. The TV will have colorized BFade, MStripes and Blaze.   It remains to be seen whether I can actually achieve this goal with Dunmovin's colours thrown into the mix! |

(Also, I prefer leg genes in this case, only because I like more of them then face ones.  ...) Generation length doesn't matter, right? I fully expect to keep the colorations decent, I'll have some work ahead of me. Thankfully, since I only need him in the lines somewhere, and Vienna in the lines somewhere, I have some room to work a little if length doesn't matter. I can use lenght for color fixing/gene set-ups. (Which will be the hardest part, likely, if my chosen stud decides to be ZZ and I decide on a lower recessive body gene. e.e ...) You can start planning your triple visible pedigree and genning any starters you need, or buying starters on the market. If the starters you buy are already adults you can begin breeding those. It's up to you how you organise your time. But you won't be able to breed with a Stud till 27th August nor breed your City girl into your pedigree until she's grown up. |

Generation length isn't an issue. The fun will be in what genes are carried and how that affects the overall appearance of your final pony, so you might need a fair few generations to iron things out. |
