![]() | I've got so many breeding projects ongoing that I don't want to clutter up the board with one thread for each of them, so this is my master list. |

![]() | The Chess Project Accounts involved: LemonyOpacity (black pieces) LemonyLucent (white pieces) Inbreeding: Accepted. Purebred project? No. This is going to be a very long an arduous project. Basically, I am working on a Spectral Legion with the pony's hair colors being the Legion colors. (You can see the Spectral Legion color chart on my presentation in those two accounts). Anyway, my goal is to produce a legion where Hair 1 matches the color set. But also . . . I want half the ponies to have pure black bodies, half to have pure white, and I want the white-bodied ponies to have FaceFade and LegFade and the black bodied ponies to have Stockings and Blaze. So that some example ponies might look like this (courtesy of Jwebgen): You can see where the chess theme comes in! The trick, of course, is going to be getting pure white / pure black ponies so I can move on to working on the hair color. I'm fine with inbreeding on this project because it would take forever otherwise. Also ponies of any and all breeds will be used, although breeds that show Extra 1 or Hair 2 are going to be tricky, because I don't want any colors on these ponies except for white, black, and whatever Hair 1 is. Sgenes other than Stockings, Blaze, LegFade, and FaceFade are going to be avoided and bred out. Strategy Breed ponies up to pure white / down to pure black first, then concentrate on hair colors. Generate female ponies (ONLY) with appropriate Sgenes using the BP earned in those two accounts. Use outside studs to get the body color right. Breed out extraneous Sgenes. Current Progress Currently I have a few pure black ponies, no pure white ponies. I'm working on getting the Sgenes into play. I do have a couple hopeful breeding ponies so far: Baker's Half Dozen -- only 7 points off pure black body, shows Stockings, carries Blaze. Damocles -- Pure black body, carries stockings. Gentle Breeze -- I just genned this girl . . . 29 points off pure white, which is about as good as I have for the white pieces right now. |

![]() | Flame Legion and Storm Legion (or is it Ocean Legion?) How embarrassing, I can't remember if my blue themed legion is Storm or Ocean! But I have the colors written down and that's what matters, I guess. The Flame Legion and Storm Legion are interconnected in a lot of ways. They are both Color Legion projects where I'm trying to breed a full legion a) without any inbreeding and b) using only ponies that I generate myself and their offspring. Avoiding inbreeding is proving to be really hard, but that's part of the challenge! They are also racing against each other to see which Legion will be completed first! So far the Flame Legion is ahead. Accounts: LemonyFlames (Flame Legion) LemonyLegion (Ocean(?) Legion) Inbreeding: Not accepted. Purebred project? No. Breeding: Self-bred ponies only. Number of Flame Colors So Far: 3 Flame Colors Unlocked: FFCC00 (Booster Gold), FF6600 (Sea Song), FF3300 (Rooster) Number of Legion Colors So Far: 2 Legion Colors Unlocked: 0066FF (Rampage), 6600FF (Tasket) Well, this is a pretty straight forward breeding project for body color. Not using outside studs is slowing things down because it makes it hard to avoid inbreeding, but I gen new ponies using the BP I earn contesting, so it's all good. Pony Generation Randomizer Fun Originally I was picking out hair colors and Extra 1 and such for my generated ponies based on my personal whim, but after a while I got bored with this and started generating ponies with RANDOM colors and Sgenes (except for the body color, where I always pick pure red and either yellow, white, or magenta for the Flame ponies and pure blue and either magenta, cyan, or white for the Ocean ponies). There are 9 different possibilities for each eye color, hair color, etc, on each Gen Parent, so I go to a number randomizer, set it up a number between 1 and 9, and let it pick the colors! Then I do the same for pony breed, with the caveat that if I pick a 20 BP breed on the first roll, I will also pick a 20 BP breed for the second roll, because why waste BP, right? Then I do the same for Sgenes, except that I skip ones I don't like (Socks, ugh, I hate Socks) and limited Sgenes like Freckles. I don't mark what Sgenes the genned ponies have in their name or presentation because it's fun to be surprised later. The randomizing process has resulted in some really ugly ponies, but also some amazingly lovely ones! This little guy, for example: Not Hair/Extra colors I would normally have thought of, but I love him to bits. Current Legionnaires: |

![]() | The White-on-White Earthie Project Account: LM2 Purebred project? Yes. Outside studs used? Yes. Inbreeding accepted? No. I was inspired to start this project when, against all odds, this pure white earthie girl was born to one of my starters. The odds were against her being born pure white--neither her mother or father being that color--but those lovely FF's lined up just right and there she was! (She's actually dead at the moment but never mind about that.) Her hair is a light pink which made me think . . . hey, what if I bred a pony who was not only pure white, but had pure white hair? This goal has been achieved by other people, but that doesn't matter to me, I'm excited to take up this challenge for myself. This is a purebred project and my goal is to produce and "end pony" with 0% inbreeding. This sometimes gets tricky. Strategy Generally I find a free/cheap outside stud with FF (that's 255 for you folks who use Decimal instead of Hex) somewhere in his mane and tail and then spam-breed the heck out of him. Wait, Spam-Breed? What? Spam-breeding is a term I coined for my strategy of breeding scads of mares with a single stud, thus producing a mass of baby ponies. But I only keep the very best of the batch, in order to avoid inbreeding problems down the line. Also because usually a lot of the babies are not what I want anyway. Still, you would be surprised the results you can get from spam-breeding! If you have enough mares you usually get at least one or two decent babies. Look at this guy's pedigree, for example: Would you think, to look at him, that his father had bright green hair? Almost all the babies in this "batch" also had bright green hair, but THIS guy was one of the few I named. Current Progress Still have a lot of breeding ponies who have either whitish hair or whitish body but not both. Working on it . . . |

![]() | Pure White / Pure Black Purebred Reindeer Project For a while I was working on breeding towards purebred, pure white / pure black reindeers, but then I left PI for a while and my breeding stock all died, of course. I haven't resurrected them yet, so this project is currently . . . ON HIATUS I will briefly show off New Moon, one of the only ponies I've resurrected from that project so far and one of my favorites. |
