Having felt isolated for most of his childhood, he didn't want the same thing for his own offspring, and so it was important for him to have a large family when he eventually started one. When he met his mate, Patara, he was fortunate that she had also always wanted a large family, and thus together they had five children: two boys, and three girls.
Stjarna was proud of all of his children, but there was always something different about Lysande Stjarna,
he didn't rough house or play lots of active games like the other children growing up. And he went out of his way to avoid noisy and busy situations like festivals, or birthdays. When the family would go to visit Stjarna's parents, the other children would run squealing into the embrace of their grandparents, while Lysande would be off in the village somewhere, attempting to hide in the snow.
When he was older, Stjarna brought him to one of the training drills of the Royal Guard, to hope it would inspire his son as much as it did him, but Lysande seemed unimpressed with the display, and instead snuck off into the Royal Gardens, where he met High Wizard Misha, who sensed a kindred spirit in the young stallion, and invited him to study at the school of magic.
Stjarna was upset for a time, feeling that Misha had stolen his youngest son from him, as Lysande eagerly spent his days and nights in the school's huge library, studying anything and everything he could. And for a very short time, he was even upset with Patara, blaming her delicate and elegant genes for their son's disinterest with anything to do with his father's work.
But the day Lysande graduated from apprentice to a full fledged court wizard, proudly serving the Empress Ellechim, was one of the proudest days of Stjarna's life. And he realized that there was nothing wrong with Lysande, only something wrong with the ideals of his stubborn father."
TL;DR: Stjarna had his second son born.
This is the first child kept by me (the other three were given to friends) and the second to last born before Stjarna and Patara retire from breeding, they just need one more girl for the family to be complete!In the story, Stjarna is half-Mountie half-Nixie, but if you look at his pedigree you'll see he is actually a purebred Nixie, as are all of his children. He's only mixed in my island's canon.
I'm so ecstatic to have Lysande, and am thrilled with how gorgeous he turned out! I can't wait till the last daughter is born, and the whole family will finally be together.
